Transparency is vital to the building and strengthening of every relationship and every ministry. It allows people to see you as approachable and to feel safer when talking to you. Transparency is a gateway to trust, and trustworthiness is an important quality which people seek in a good, ministerial leader. They want to know Is this person trustworthy? Is this person honest? How do I know I can talk to this person without fear of condemnation? It is with this in mind that Rohini Townsend approaches writing, friendships, ministry, and life itself. Her desire to see people healed and whole has led to a candor and openness that is sure to tug at the heartstrings of the despondent. Put Some Shoes On, is an emotional and gripping story of one little girl’s journey through heartache, rejection, abuse, and turmoil. Chronicling her path from scared child to broken, rebellious teen to powerful, anointed woman of God, the author shares the most intimate moments of her life with refreshing transparency and soul stirring honesty. It is not only a story of past hurts, it is a story of learning, growing and seeking a deeper relationship with God -- the steps and sacrifices that are required for that level of depth and connection to the Father. Raw, poignant, and insightful, Put Some Shoes On was written to heal. It was written with your salvation in mind. This is a story of overcoming and, while on that walk, discovering who you are, and more importantly, WHOSE you are. Every step you take was conceived in the mind of the Father to guide you towards recognizing the spiritual gifts He has placed in you. Be not weary in well doing. Do not allow your circumstances to define you. Do not be consumed by trials and heartache. Take your experiences and let God use them to mold you into a powerful Kingdom citizen. Put some shoes on and walk boldly in your Godly identity.

Put Some Shoes On Rohini Townsend Books

Full disclosure: I know Ro personally, and indeed, she's one of my favorite people. If not for that I wouldn't be reading a memoir, let alone paying full price for the new paperback copy.

But this one is worth every penny. This is the story of someone who's led a difficult life but, rather than being beaten by it, reflected on it and learned what it (and God) had to teach her. And she's been generous and courageous enough to share those lessons with the rest of us.

There are a lot of reasons this book works. The writing is effortless and personable, so that it's easy to pick up and hard to put down. Ro traces her story from childhood all the way to the present, and connects the child she was to the adult she is now, so you're not just reading a chronology of events but the portrait of a whole person. She has an effective way of switching voices between the episode she's sharing at the time, and her reflections on that episode in the present, so the reader can empathize (or agonize, or rejoice) with what she went through in the past while fully appreciating the power of the wisdom she's gained from her experiences. Through tales of brokenness, struggle, healing, growth, and forgiveness, a fast pace and a dose of humor keep the reading light even when the themes are heavy.

Spiritual reflections at the end of the chapters reveal to us how her life has shaped her faith, and her faith has shaped her life. One of the most difficult aspects of being a faithful person is trying to make sense out of suffering. You can read all the philosophy and theology in the world, and it's still hard to wrap your head around why people have to go through pain. In sharing her life the author tells us, but more importantly, she shows us how we can find God in our struggles. So this book succeeds both as a story and a powerful testimony.

If I had to identify a target market for "Put Some Shoes On," I would say you should be human. And literate. If so, you can't possibly read this book and not get something important from it. Highly recommended.

Put Some Shoes On Rohini Townsend Books Reviews

Beautiful story of courage, redemption and victory. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, nor for those who aren't ready to take an honest look at themselves.
This book was very thought provoking especially in the areas of experiencing trauma yet continually displaying resilience. A good reminder of how God loves us through our hurts even when we can't feel him. Thank you for sharing your story...and your victory.
I have finished reading "Put Some Shoes On" for the second time and was just as enthralled as the first. God has such an amazing way of bringing people through tests and trials in order to bring them to their purpose. This book is definitely evidence of Rohini Townsend living out a part of God's will. She is truly a living testimony. You will be lifted by this read!
I am not much of a reader, I tend to rather watch tv than read, but I was home sick and so I started to read it, and then I couldn't stop reading it, and read it all. WHOA, what a story! The description on is dead on the right description for the book.

I would also describe it as, It was an emotional and gripping story with God sprinkled throughout it and heavily at the end........ WOO!! I wasn't sure I was going to be able to read it all, several chapters hit some of my trigger sensors and made me remember things/events in my past that I had tucked away and forgotten about, or wanted to forget about. But I pushed through and was glad I did. The author did a good job writing it! The end (Sapphire Shoes) gave me alot to think about.
I am an avid reader, who has figuratively (and probably literally) read a thousand books. With that being said, I am a book snob who has little patience for poorly written books, weak plots and/or under developed characters. Also...I dont do "nonfiction"...like hardly ever.

But this book?! Utterly amazing. And I say that lightly because I am only 30% complete; yet as I read, I long for more. I am vested in this story, and find myself "rooting" for her. I find a piece of myself in her, things and thoughts I never would have the courage to say; yet her transparency is so vivid..I am emotionally moved.

You don't often find a new author that has the talent to bring words to life, using the right words, and the right amount of humor to create that 'perfect' imagery. But this author has been blessed to receive that gift. 4 stars for now, as I am only 30% complete; but I know by the end, I will change this rating.

[Updated....6 hours later]. As I thought, I changed my rating because '5 stars' was well deserved. I read this in one sitting (thankfully I had the day off) and enjoyed every moment of it. It saddens me to read what she went through, but I rejoice in seeing God work through her. This is a must read -
