The Other Side of Organized edition by Linda Samuels CPOCD® SelfHelp eBooks Reviews
Linda Samules'book, "The other Side of Organized" is about the emotional side of becoming organized as much as it is invested with the "how to" of the process. Ms. Samuels writes with the same clarity and kindness that she demonstrates when working with her clients. This is an important book to read for anyone who has bought dozens of other books on getting organized and failed to become organized in the process of reading them. This book actually holds your hand and gets you going. The Other Side of Organized
I have read dozens of books about organizing, but never has one touched me on a spiritual level the way Linda Samuel's book has. Linda's book is not as much of a "how to" book, but a "why" book. She writes as if she's having a caring conversation with a close friend and her full disclosure is both soothing and inspiring.
This is a book I will pick up and read parts of over and over again. I plan to pass it on to special people in my life whom I know would benefit from Linda's wisdom and the whimsical way she shares it.
With its short, easy to read chapters and its no-nonsense approach, The Other Side of Organized is a wonderful get-off-your-tush-and-get-moving book. Rather than being a how-to, it keys into many of the philosophical and psychological reasons we procrastinate our organizing tasks or simply can't let go of our "stuff" and gives us the positive reinforcement, the gentle nudge, that we all need to get it done in manageable chunks, without feeling overwhelmed by the desire to accomplish everything at once.
I need help with organizing and I found this one stands apart from the rest. Helpful and informative. A must have.
It's not so much a how to, but a why to. Or better yet a how to discover your why to. This gives you a great deal of food for thought. I will be using this for some time.
This is an amazing little gem of a book whose compelling cover invites the reader to open it, like a hidden closet door, and discover space and inspiration, all well organized and beautiful. The theme, finding the balance between chaos and perfection, not only gives useful, practical suggestions about organizing our physical space but also inspires the reader to make space in their own lives in a metaphoric way. I felt deeply invited to discard all that clutters, no longer fits or ceases to be useful in all of my living space.
The author's enthusiastic, artful and intimate writing make the book a delight to read. Each page is without clutter or excess as the author models her powerful yet light-hearted philosophy in an inspiring way. I'll share this book with my clients and give it as a gift to friends, knowing it will be a gift that keeps on giving.
Linda Samuels book, The Other Side of Organized Finding Balance Between Chaos and Perfection, is a compassionate and understanding look at the issues faced by those who struggle with disorganization. There are many common sense strategies that address a multitude of organizing challenges. This is much more than a "just do it" type of book. The author approaches the subject using the image of the four seasons, the changes that accompany them and the renewed hope that each season brings for positive change. This charming book also has a wonderful series of cartoons inspired by the author's black labrador retriever, Norton; each cartoon illustrates an important organizing principle or skill in a light and amusing manner. The Other Side of Organized is an easy read and will leave you with feelings of hope and encouragement and the sense that you have learned much more along the way than just organizing principles; but some important life lessons, too.
